The non-food pantry at Northwest Connect, “A Hand Up,” is open from 3:00-6:00 pm on the second and fourth Mondays. If you would like to volunteer to work a shift at the pantry or help with stocking the shelves with products, etc., talk to Scott Read.

Food Pantry

The food pantry ministry has been functioning exceptionally well under the guidance of a loyal team of volunteers from Spokane Valley Church.

Over the past several years of our service together, the Northwest Connect Food Pantry Ministry set a new record for food distribution at our NE Community Center location in the Hillyard neighborhood, sharing more than 16,000 additional pounds of food than had been given away in the previous year of operation under SNAP.

That means our church volunteers surpassed the previous total in food distribution through this ministry by more than eight full tons!  The success of those efforts is creating even more opportunity for us to serve in the coming year, so please continue to remember this life-giving ministry in your daily prayers and consider how you might be a part of this compassionate ministry team as a volunteer or financial supporter. This outreach ministry continues to grow, and the hungry people we are now serving in the compassionate Spirit and name of Jesus can really use your help.

For more information, please contact our church office at 509.926.1545, or go to Northwest Connect through the link below. Thanks again for your faithfulness!

Nazarene Missions International, NMI, is the church-relations heart of Global Missions in every local Nazarene church worldwide.  NMI exists to mobilize the church in missions through prayer, education, giving and interactive experiences.

Our local NMI Council is very active and consists of twelve members of the congregation and several of our pastors.  The Council is currently led by Debra Howard, President.  Our work is a local, regional and international effort manifesting itself by local, district, national and international hands-on activities, as well as overseeing a budget that provides money to local efforts such as Spokane Valley Partners, Union Gospel Mission and Anna Ogden Hall, Northwest Connect, and other needs throughout the world.  Recently a Work and Witness team of twenty-one congregants spent ten days in Kosovo conducting a basketball clinic for 100 young people, as well as remodeling and updating a ministry center.

"I tell you the truth, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to Christ will certainly not lose his reward."  Mark 9:41

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live,
but Christ lives in me.  The life I now live in the body,
I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and
gave himself for me.” ~  Galatians 2:20 NIV

World Mission Broadcast: Thousands of lives have been touched and transformed over the years through the work of the Holy Spirit through World Mission Broadcast. Pray for the continued work of WMB in reaching people with the good news of Christ in 32 languages, 72 countries, 140 programs.

South Asia Field is made up of the countries of Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The church does not have work in Bhutan and Maldives at the present time. Pray for countries on the South Asia Field where the church has work and for their leadership.

Bangladesh: East of India on the Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh is a country of lush greenery and many waterways. Its Padma (Ganges), Meghna and Jamuna rivers create fertile alluvial plains, and travel by boat is common.  The Church of the Nazarene began work in Bangladesh in 1992. Give praise to the Lord that the government gave permission for a new Child Focused Community Development Program in Sapahar, Noagaon.  Praise the Lord that the Integrated Water and Sanitation Hygiene (IWASH) project installed two water treatment plants.  Praise the Lord that the political situation has become more stable.

10 Day Catch Up
by Jen

Last week we arrived in our new home and country minus one bag plus two tired adults, three excited kids, and one traumatized dog (who now hates her crate!).  Ten days on, we bought and built furniture, had  numerous meetings in our new offices with our new team, gone to a church that already feels like home twice, explored the village, river and hills with the dog, prepared the house to receive our shipment, celebrated my birthday, and had our first impromptu guests over this afternoon for a cup of tea and cookies!  (To continue reading click here:

Jesus and Nora and Lilly and Abe
by Teanna Sunberg

teanna2day – Central Europe Field

Here on this cold Saturday morning, I'm scrolling through sunny June photos and remembering last summer's fun days.  Found this super cute memory of a tourist day in Thessaloniki with our friends and their sweet kiddos.  Aren't' Lily and Abe adorable?  See the greet tote that Abe is carrying?  We had just given him that--it's full of playdough fun.  He loved it!  In fact, his dad was just telling me recently that whenever they tell Ave to go get his suitcase, this is what he brings back--the green case that was a gift from us.

As I remember it though, there were tears right before this stroll--and, in fact, our destination in this photo is an ice cream shop to . . .

Child Sponsorship:

When a woman from Oregon (U.S.A.) decided in 1995 to sponsor a little girl from the Philippines, she couldn’t possibly know how God would honor that investment. God planted a dream in that child’s heart that would bring her from poverty to a life of learning. Today she is the lead developer for the new website and is investing her life in others. Child sponsorship changes lives! Read more at

The Rest of the Story
by Jen

If you are sitting comfortably, I will begin with what may become a short book.  Who doesn't like a good book during the restful days of Christmas?

It starts back in 2011 when we moved to  Bulgaria.  We were pretty determined that we would not move again within missions. In the last five years we have found family here . . .
