Staff Contact Information:

Jeff Crosno :: Senior Pastor

Jeff likes to describe himself as a recovering megachurch pastor, an avid architectural antique hunter, or a balding rhythm guitarist and former forestry worker, mechanic, welder, and construction laborer happy to be living in the Pacific Northwest.  A Washington native along with his wife, Carmen, Pastor Jeff previously served large congregations in the Kansas City, Portland, Los Angeles and Chicago metro areas.  First graduating with Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from our Nazarene Theological Seminary, Jeff later went on to earn his second doctorate from Princeton Theological Seminary.  As an Eastern Washington rancher's daughter with her own MBA in finance, Carmen worked in actuarial consulting and as a hospital executive prior to taking her present role providing community outreach for insurers.  But on free evenings, both Jeff and Carmen like to enjoy long walks along the Spokane River with their cell phones set on “mute.”

Debbie Hensley :: Pastor of Family Life Ministries

Debbie was ordained as a Nazarene Elder in 2007. She also has a Child Development Associate Credential and is Certified Artificial Insemination Technician for cattle (you just never know when that will come in handy!). Debbie served as Children's Pastor and Daycare Director at Othello Nazarene Church for over 20 years. She was hired in 2008 as the Family Pastor at Cheney Nazarene Church where she started and directed Noah's Ark Early Learning Academy.

Ron and Debbie were married on May 18, 2002 at 8:36 am (Mount St. Helen's Anniversary). They have five grown children and 11 grandchildren with two more on the way. Debbie loves kids, cows, reading and baking; she loves to encourage and uplift people with homemade cinnamon rolls. Ron likes to eat any rolls that are left on the counter! Ron and Debbie enjoy going on dates, walks, roller coasters, biking and lattes.

Debbie feels blessed to have a great husband who loves to work beside her in helping people in crisis situations, praying for people, hospital visitations and all aspects of children's ministry.

Billy Buisman :: Pastor of Youth and Young Adult Ministries

Pastor Billy and his wife Sabera are passionate about God and working with young people.

Pastor Billy grew up in Newport, Oregon and attended the Newport Nazarene Church in his teen years, which was very influential in growing both his relationship with God and his call to youth ministry.  Following this call led him to Northwest Nazarene University to study Religion, with a minor in Youth Ministry.  He got connected to the Northwest District by interning at Moscow Nazarene Church.  After graduating from NNU, he was called to
a full-time youth ministry position at Coeur d'Alene Nazarene, where he served for ten years.  In his time at Coeur d'Alene, he met and married his lovely wife, Sabera Wetherill.  Sabera grew up in Colville, Washington, attending Colville Nazarene Church, and currently she serves as an office assistant at Odom Corp.

Billy and Sabera love God, hiking, biking, movies, reading, kayaking, traveling, and they have even gone sky-diving. The two welcomed their first child, Alexander William, into the world in November, 2016.

Mindy Alsworth :: Pastor of Discipleship and Spiritual Care

Pastor Mindy Alsworth grew up in the Yakima Valley where her family still resides. During her college years at Northwest Nazarene University, she completed a degree in Business Administration.  It was in the midst of her college years that Mindy sensed the Lord’s calling to ministry.  Answering this call led her to Kansas City to continue her education and a Master of Divinity degree at Nazarene Theological Seminary.

Mindy met and married her husband, Joel Alsworth, at NNU. They are both ordained elders in the Church of the Nazarene and have spent their careers ministering and serving in churches together.  Joel is a chaplain at Sacred Heart Hospital.

The Alsworths have two boys, Carter and Josiah. As a family they enjoy biking, hiking, camping, fishing, kayaking and taking out the SUP (stand-up paddle-board).

Mark Sterk :: Pastor of Community Life
Mark spent the majority of his adult life serving the Spokane community as a police officer, and was elected as our Spokane County Sheriff in 1998.  Mark retired from law enforcement in 2005 after 32 years of service.

After completing the course of study, Mark was ordained as an Elder in the Church of the Nazarene at our NW District Assembly in 2008.  Mark and Nancy were invited to serve as Transitional Interim Pastors with New Church Specialties, and have served in four different churches over five years, ministering and coaching churches in crisis.

Mark and Nancy have been members of Spokane Valley Church for over 35 years. Together they train marriage mentor couples, being involved in pre-marital counseling and marriage counseling, utilizing Prepare and Enrich Ministry tools and materials to help strengthen marriages. They are currently active trainers and leaders in the Stephen Ministries program at Spokane Valley Church.
